Well how are you all going? I am back from my little break and full of energy again! When I got to Sydney after being out at sea for 9 days I was more than ready to do a bit of shopping. And being near Sephora and Mecca Maxima only meant that my poor wallet would be feeling a LOT lighter afterwards.
I went to Sephora first, mainly because I wanted to check out what the store looked like compaired to the America. I am honestly dissapointed with what the store looks like. I was just expecting more really. I don’t know what else to say. The store itself wasn’t bad in the least.. just yea, I was expecting more haha! The store is over two levels with all the makeup on the lower level and skin care upstairs. I did find it a little weird and annoying that the cash registers were upstairs. Meaning you HAD to climb up if you wanted to buy something. I can understand that there isn’t much floor space downstairs but still. They did have the goodies by the cash registers though so I was really happy about that! There were some products that I wanted to pick up but were sold out (which didn’t suprise me) or my sister got the last one (lucky her haha). Overall I went in twice, once with just my sister and the second time to show Mum to give her context when I talk about stores and what not. The first time we went it wasn’t too busy and a nice experience, we could wonder around and not worry about bumping into other people too much. The second time though was not so fun, the store was flooded with people! I had thought that it might have cooled down being open for so many months, but nope! Still crazy as ever haha, that time we didn’t look around too much and just got what we wanted and left.
I asked about the rewards program and was upset but interested to hear that they wont be implimenting that until the end of the year, when the website is meant to launch. So that is something! I really hope that the rewards are actually worth it, else I will honestly just keep buying everything from Mecca, as I love the customer serive and the people that work there, and of course, the prices.
This is an overvew of all of the products that I got from Sephora! Like I said, my wallet was feeling a lot lighter after this but it was tottaly worth it. Plus I knew I was going to be spending a fair amount here and so had saved some money in advance! I knew I was going to get mre Kat Von D and Anastasia products… Didn’t really expect it to be pretty much the only brands I got though! Oh well, I got some repurchases and of course a lot of new products that I am excited to try!
This is something that I picked up right near the start. I have heard a lot about the Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipsticks and so I went over to them and swatched some. Not gonna lie, I was looking for a shade created in colab with an Instergramer that I really like. But they didn’t have it, so I moved onto a shade that I thought would be good from Spring/ Summer seeing as we are moving into these seasons! I decided on Sexer because it is a beautiful pink that you can do many different things with. Even though I am mainly a red lipstick person, I do love wearing a good pink, and I have no doubt that this is going to get a lot of use in the next few months! I also love the fact that Kat Von D’s logo is imprinted on the lipstick. It looks so beautiful and I am gonna be sad when I get down to it and start messing it up. But at least I have these great photos to look back on!
Next up are these Metal Crush eye shadows, again by Kat Von D. I don’t know how new these are to the market, but in Sephora they had their own little area on the other side of the store from the main display. My sister and I lightly touched these and knew that a few shades would be coming home with us. The pan on these are large and I find that I really like this because it means I could use these products with larger brushes for more crazy looks (if I ever get the courage to do something like that) and so forth. The first shade I picked up was Synergy which is the pan on the right. Thunderstruck, the white shade, I picked up on my next visit because the day before my sister had gotten the last one! Thankfully they had heaps the next day so I scooped one up before they vanished again. These are SO buttery and I can’t wait to use them. I have been collecting more and more white/ lighter shadows because I love layering them over dark shadows to create a sheen. I am so excited to use these!!
Now for a repurchase product! The Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper. I have bought this three times now! Although one time doesn’t really count as that was the Limmeted Edition version she released. My current Trooper hasn’t run out, but that doesn’t mean it cant run out soonish. So while I had the chance I picked it up. I love this liner so much and use it almost everyday. I can’t recommend this liner enough, its so easy to use and lasts all day! A new product is the Ink Liner in Neruda. I have never tried a white liner like this before so I am super excited. When I swatched this on the back of my hand, I pictured a dark look with stark white liner over top. I don’t know if I will ever be able to create that but we will wait and see. Both of these are so easy to use and I love them. Thankfully these weren’t much more expensive than they were in America! (But we have all seen the posts about how unconsistant the price differences have been).
Next up is Anastasia Beverly Hills products. I decided that I wanted to try something new and move away from my AnastasiaBH Brow Wiz (review) also because my sister told me that the colour wasn’t really matching me anymore. Now that we are coming into the sunnier seasons, my hair lightens and so I agreed and went to get a lighter shade. Sadly taupe is the lightest shade of the brow wiz, but no matter! The Dipbrow Pomade has a lighter shade! Blonde is the shade that I picked up and it is a bit lighter which I am thankful for, my hair is bleached, yes, but this shade matches my natural hair colour a lot better! Now I just need a brush… Didn’t really think that one through! So if you have a hard won favourite please let me know! The second product I picked up is the Clear Brow Gel, thankfully I have used this before and know what I am getting into. I got this because I do also use the Benefit Gimme Brow but I thought the combination of the Pomade and Gimme brow might be a bit strong for me. So I figured that the Pomade and Brow gel should work well together! The first time I tried the Brow Gel was actually through a subscription service, which I no longer use, it was a lucky dip sort of thing as to who actually got a sample, and I was on of the lucky ducks that got one! So now after probably a year, I’m finally buying the full product haha!
These were the two products that I picked up while on my way to the cash register. They were a bit expensive, but I wanted to try the lipstick (which cost $15, size reference picture below and the moisturizer was $20) The lipstick is Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy in Envious. I use red lipstick all the time, and had been interested in this formula for a long time, so I thought this was a great chance to try this out. I do think it is expensive for what it is, but again I wanted to try it and thought why not. Plus if I don’t like it, I only wasted $15, not the $55 I think they are. I LOVE the packaging of this, mainly because its just so tiny and cute! The Day Wear moisturizer is what I use in the morning to start my day. I have been using this for years and honestly haven’t really tried anything else. My skin has never gotten mad at me because of this so I have stuck to it! The reason I got a small one is because I love using these for travel, and I am doing that a lot more lately, so they are handy. This size jar will last me about a month with daily use, night and day, so yea! Really handy for travel and that is why I picked one up!
This is a reference of the size of the Estee Lauder lipstick, as I said it is TINY! But I love it so much, this is next to my dip brow. Again, this is why I’m a bit annoyed that the lipstick is $15 but oh well! If I love the lipstick I got a great product without having to try at full price!
My last purchase from Sephora was the Beauty Blender, I have used one of these in the past and ended up giving it to my sister. But I felt that I hadn’t really given it a proper go, so while I had the chance I picked this up again to try. I don’t really know how this will go but I really do want to love it as much as every one else does.
While in Myer about to get my brows done (and my lip it ended up being) the lady told me about the Limmited Edition They’re Real Mascara with Swarovski Crystals. I heard murmers of this and am now starting to get more and more info about it flood my emails and social media. I decided to get it because I am sadly not loving my current mascara as much and know that I do enjoy using the They’re Real Mascara. This packaing is slightly differnet to normal (besides the obvious) the packaging is matte black all over while the handle is still glossy and covered in stones.
Here is a close up of the cap. The stones aren’t too far rasied which I am thankful for, otherwise I think it would make the brush uncomfortable to hold and use. I am so excited to use this again, and once finished, put it on display, maybe next to my Kat Von D LE Trooper liner. 🙂
Now onto Mecca Maxima, which we had a little trouble finding as they are between stores at the moment, BUT we got there and of course had more fun shopping! Again there were two trips made, but the first trip was easily the most expensive. (Looking back at my photos and memory… I bought the Makeup Forever spray at Sephora… Sorry!!) I had a ball here and felt a bit at home because I know Mecca pretty well, as it’s one of my favourite stores in Adelaide! The ladies were so lovely and helpful! It was such a lovely experience shopping there!
First off is a new bronzer, I haven’t bought a new bronzer in a very long time and so thought a mix up might be in order! I picked up the Too Faced Sun Bunny Bronzer on my sisters recommondation. She has the little book of bronzers and said that this would be something I would like if I wanted a shimmery bronzer. I have used this once so far and loved it! It blended out beautifully and didn’t look crazy on my face! I think I will probably be picking up more of these in the future haha!
My second ever Soap and Glory Product. This is the famuos Hand Food hand cream and I was excctied to see it in a little basket so that I could give it a try! Another great thing was that this only cost $5 so I actually went back and got a few more haha opps! This is a great product and I can understnad why a lot of people like the brand. I don’t need a lot of this to completely cover my hands and wrists. I love the smell of this and am so glad that I got it. I think I will always have one in my collection somewhere from now on haha!
Next up is something that I have wanted to try for a very long time but didn’t want to pay all that money for a mud mask. So when I saw this in a smaller jar and for not as much money ($25) I picked one up before I could change my mind. I am really looking forward to trying this and also really hoping that I don’t use it up too quickly. I really want this to last at least around 4 uses so I can hopefully make up my mind about whetether this is really worth all the hype. Again this was a product that I wanted to try without spending crazy amounts of money.
Now for the product I got a bit confused with in where I actually bought it from. I did get this from Sephora in the isle near the cash register. I have again heard many things abut this and thought that I would give it a go. I also figured this would be good to take while traveling because it is a lot smaller than say the fix+ that I have which is the full size. I haven’t tried many Makeup Forever poducts so I am interested to see how this will go!
Lastly is the Urban Decay De-Slick Setting Spray. I have been using the same sized bottle of the All-nighter and found that I really do enjoy this product. Mainly because of the spritzer and how the product sits on my skin. I wanted to try this version because I do have oily skin and struggle with it a little. I am probably not going to use this until I run out of the all-nighter, just because I don’t really like having lots of products on the go at once. Well these types of things anyway.
To round everything out is the samples that I got from both Myer and Sephora. I haven’t really looked at these but I am interested to see how they go. I was glad to see some samples though, its always fun to try products for free~!
If there is anything you think I need to try and review right away please let me know so I can get on that!
