18 before 2018

Hey Everyone,

I mostly failed my 17 before 2017 and that was because I set the challenge to be too hard. While I didn’t hit pan or even come close to finishing some of those products I did finish others. But starting this challenge inspired me to continue and I have learnt from my mistakes. So this time I have given myself a whole year to finish products! Because of that, some of the products I list will be more general, because I am always trying to actually work through the products I have and find my holy grail!

Lip Balms

img_2409

A continuing theme from for other project pan is to work on my lip balm collection. I am constantly trying to figure out how many I have and I am just going to settle on 18+ which is simply too many! The aim is to wittle that number down to around 5 or so. I have figured out which brands I am loving at the moment so I only want them floating around. Thankfully I use lip balm a lot at work so lets hope I can make a good dent in this collection!

Foundation

As you can see I have a few, well, to me this is a few and it makes me a little unsettled to see all of these sitting on top of my vanity. So I have made it my mission to use up most of these! At the moment I only really want to keep the Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation and re-purchase the Kat Von D Lock It Foundation. But that opinion might change throughout the year. For work I am wearing the NARS All Day Luminous foundation because I was sucked in with the YouTube hype and actually really dislike this foundation.

Hand Cream

16237682_10211790611539944_645393303_n

Ah, hand cream, one of the many products that I keep buying thinking I will actually get into the habit of using it. Well, this year has to be the year, because the last thing I want is to see all those products going off in my cupboard. Hopefully this hand cream, along with many others, will be used up by the end of the year!

Mascara

16244477_10211790612059957_1021392455_n.jpg

I keep telling myself, no more mascara, you already have enough and I think this is the proof that I need that I do indeed have to many just sitting about. All of these are just my unopened mascaras. So clearly I am set for the year. Hopefully most of these will go throughout the year, whether because I loved them or simply hated them, we will find out!

Jeffree Star Cosmetics – Redrum

16216261_10211790612379965_1731540419_n

Ah, my beautiful Redrum from Jeffree Star, there is nothing wrong with this lipstick, I just feel that I should start working on this as it’s from the original release. I have also missed wearing red! Hopefully wearing Redrum will get my back into the swing of wearing a red. I am also interested to see how long this will actually take to use up, I haven’t worn it many times, that I remember, so I am looking forward to seeing when exactly I finish it.

Sample Lip Glosses

16237384_10211790611699948_1083651209_n

I did not realise how many sample lip glosses I had! As with the general theme, I want to use them up. I have never used up a lipgloss before so I am interested to see how this goes! Also interesting to note that they are nearly all the same colour haha!

Sample Eyeshadows – Femme Fatale Cosmetics – Fire Opal & Secret Shiney

One of the true challenges for this project pan. I want to work through some pigments. I know there isn’t much in these samples, but they are also not colours that I wear everyday. I hope to be able to work through these, and maybe move onto other shadows throughout the year. I love my Femme Fatale pigments and so I am interested to see what looks I can create with these shadows.

Rimmel London Blush in Pink Rose.

16238049_10211790611859952_845962917_n

Probably an impossible feat, but I am going to try! I only want to hit pan on this product, if I get any hints of silver I will be immensely proud of myself. Once I had decided to start this project pan, I took this out and put it on top of my vanity, so I have been using it for a week already. Fingers crossed I can hit pan, these blushes are pigmented and beautiful!

Urban Decay Naked Palette

Still at it with this bad boy, I have nothing against this palette, I will probably repurchase it because I enjoy the shadows so much. I just want to work through more of it. The image above is older, as I have also hit pan on the shade Naked, due to using it as a transition shade for work. By the end of the year I want to have used more of the darker shadows in the palette. If not, I don’t really know what I will do with the palette, but I am sure I will think of something!

Models Prefer NUDE Palette

To not limit myself to mostly one palette throughout the year, I have also decided to add in this palette. It has received no love even though I have heard only good things about it! My main goal with this palette is to actually get some good use out of it. I already know which shades will get the most love, which is exciting in its own right!

Lipsticks, Lip Liner and Eyeliner

16295643_10211790713142484_239576981_n

I unashamedly took the idea to track these products in my Bullet Journal from Pastel Sparkles (her project pan linked). I love this idea and I feel it is a lot easier to track and also more encouraging when you can actually mark and see how much you have used! I also like how the products have marked my page, they brings some colour to the layout! I am most excited about finishing Girl About Town by MAC, simply because it would be the first lipstick I ever finished, and it is also the first MAC lipstick I ever bought.

Kat Von D Ink Liner – Trooper

IMG_1493

This poor sod makes a return. A product that I did not intend to pick up but for the life of me I am determined to use. I HATE using this on my eye, I don’t know how I used to love felt tip liners, but oh well. I mostly plan to use this for makeup looks that I want to do. It will be interesting to see how this lasts! But I think if by the end of the year it still isn’t finished. I will probably just declutter it, as I simply don’t love it as much as my other liners.

Finally, that is my 18 before 2018. I feel confident with most of these products, and because I have given myself just under year to complete this challenge, I know I will be able to work through most of them. If by the end of the year, I have only finished 10 products, that is more then OK! Because it is 10 products that are no longer floating around in my collection.

In regards to keeping myself accountable and you updated on my progress, I will most likely only post once a month, otherwise you will get sick of hearing about my project! But make sure to keep an eye out on my Instagram as I am sure that I will get excited and post some progress shots there.

Green Shift Makeup Look!

Hey Guys!

I have been loving a darker look recently, and I am feel so inspired by winter! I am super happy with how my eyes turned out in this look, but not sure how I feel about my lips, I wanted to do something different but improvised.

IMG_1975

My idea behind this look was that I wanted green eyes with a red crease. The hardest part of this was actually trying to get the red crease, as I wanted it to be matte. I found that the shadows that I thought would work for me didn’t, they weren’t red enough, so I had to lightly layer over a red shimmer. It worked out in the end, but I ended up using a lot more shadows in the crease than I wanted.

IMG_2016

The main shadows of this look are Spectral Fragments by Femme Fatal Cosmetics and Lumi by Sugar Pill Cosmetics. I have a deep love for my Femme Fatal shades, because they are unique and so easy to work with. Lumi is a shadow that simply works with everything and I love it to death.

Lips:

Jeffree Star Cosmetics Unicorn Blood (swatch post)

Sugar Pill Lumi layer over top. (A different shade was also used, but looking back that shadow is not lip safe so I will not be listing it here.)

I found that while Spectral Fragments is a beautiful duo chrome colour, it does bruise on my eyes. So if you have an eye shape/ design (?) similar to mine please be aware of that! The green shift lasted really well on the part of my lid that did not fold away, the areas that did got bruised and so only had the dark undertone left.

I originally was going to pair JS Weirdo with this look, but I didn’t have it with me, so I thought I would try Unicorn Blood. This is my first experience trying to layer shadows like this over lipstick, I feel it turned out pretty well though!

What sort of looks would you like to see next? Please let me know below.

Maybelline Great Lash Mscara

Trying to find a good mascara is always hard, and for me, trying to find one that is small enough for my bottom lashes was even worse. Until I came across the Maybelline Great Lash Mascara.

IMG_1222

I had been using this for work so that way my makeup wouldn’t look too strong, when I realised that this product would actually be a lot better suited for my lower lashes. As you can see in the photo above, the brush isn’t very big, nor is it super long. This means that it is easier to get it closer to your face without actually getting mascara everywhere.

As much as I do love this product, it has come to my attention that I can’t wear this on my top lashes consistently. For some reason, after 2-3 days constant wear, I will get a little lump on my eye. I don’t know why this happens, but I know what causes it. So I don’t wear it there often. That being said though, I do wear it daily on my lower lashes and that doesn’t happen. So for some reason my top lashes just don’t agree with this mascara.

So far this is the only mascara that I use on my lower lashes, this is because other brushes are just too big for me to use. So if you’re interested in a lower lash mascara without busting the bank, maybe give this a try!

Maybelline New York Fit Me Concealer – Reivew

Hey Everyone,

Recently I purchased a new concealer so that I could use it everyday for work instead of using a high end concealer, and so now I’m going to talk about it! As you can guess it’s the Maybelline New York Fit Me Concealer in the shade 15 Fair. Ironically this isn’t the lowest number in the range, but it is the lightest shade which can throw you off a little when buying your shade. Make sure you swatch the shades because you just never know!

I like the packaging for this concealer because its small making it easy to travel with and it also makes it easier to see how much product is actually left within. I also like how easy it is to read all of the information on the packaging making it easy to re-purchase the product in the future.

This is a light concealer that gives medium to full coverage. This concealer is a lot thinner then other concealers that I have used which I am really thankful for, this also means that on hot days it doesn’t feel like you have lots of makeup caked onto your face.

A bonus to this product is that it is a drug store product making it easier to find, repurchase and even get discounts on it more regularly, which is always a nice bonus. I was very glad to see that when I was using this product it didn’t break me out at all, as I do have problems with sensitive skin.

Overall I would def get this product again, because its lightweight, medium to full coverage and easy to repurchase. If you haven’t tried this before and are looking for something a bit cheaper and readily available, check this product out and see how it works for you!
