18 before 2018

Hey Everyone,

I mostly failed my 17 before 2017 and that was because I set the challenge to be too hard. While I didn’t hit pan or even come close to finishing some of those products I did finish others. But starting this challenge inspired me to continue and I have learnt from my mistakes. So this time I have given myself a whole year to finish products! Because of that, some of the products I list will be more general, because I am always trying to actually work through the products I have and find my holy grail!

Lip Balms

A continuing theme from for other project pan is to work on my lip balm collection. I am constantly trying to figure out how many I have and I am just going to settle on 18+ which is simply too many! The aim is to wittle that number down to around 5 or so. I have figured out which brands I am loving at the moment so I only want them floating around. Thankfully I use lip balm a lot at work so lets hope I can make a good dent in this collection!

As you can see I have a few, well, to me this is a few and it makes me a little unsettled to see all of these sitting on top of my vanity. So I have made it my mission to use up most of these! At the moment I only really want to keep the Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation and re-purchase the Kat Von D Lock It Foundation. But that opinion might change throughout the year. For work I am wearing the NARS All Day Luminous foundation because I was sucked in with the YouTube hype and actually really dislike this foundation.

Hand Cream

Ah, hand cream, one of the many products that I keep buying thinking I will actually get into the habit of using it. Well, this year has to be the year, because the last thing I want is to see all those products going off in my cupboard. Hopefully this hand cream, along with many others, will be used up by the end of the year!

I keep telling myself, no more mascara, you already have enough and I think this is the proof that I need that I do indeed have to many just sitting about. All of these are just my unopened mascaras. So clearly I am set for the year. Hopefully most of these will go throughout the year, whether because I loved them or simply hated them, we will find out!

Jeffree Star Cosmetics – Redrum

Ah, my beautiful Redrum from Jeffree Star, there is nothing wrong with this lipstick, I just feel that I should start working on this as it’s from the original release. I have also missed wearing red! Hopefully wearing Redrum will get my back into the swing of wearing a red. I am also interested to see how long this will actually take to use up, I haven’t worn it many times, that I remember, so I am looking forward to seeing when exactly I finish it.

Sample Lip Glosses

I did not realise how many sample lip glosses I had! As with the general theme, I want to use them up. I have never used up a lipgloss before so I am interested to see how this goes! Also interesting to note that they are nearly all the same colour haha!

Sample Eyeshadows – Femme Fatale Cosmetics – Fire Opal & Secret Shiney

One of the true challenges for this project pan. I want to work through some pigments. I know there isn’t much in these samples, but they are also not colours that I wear everyday. I hope to be able to work through these, and maybe move onto other shadows throughout the year. I love my Femme Fatale pigments and so I am interested to see what looks I can create with these shadows.

Rimmel London Blush in Pink Rose.

Probably an impossible feat, but I am going to try! I only want to hit pan on this product, if I get any hints of silver I will be immensely proud of myself. Once I had decided to start this project pan, I took this out and put it on top of my vanity, so I have been using it for a week already. Fingers crossed I can hit pan, these blushes are pigmented and beautiful!

Urban Decay Naked Palette

Still at it with this bad boy, I have nothing against this palette, I will probably repurchase it because I enjoy the shadows so much. I just want to work through more of it. The image above is older, as I have also hit pan on the shade Naked, due to using it as a transition shade for work. By the end of the year I want to have used more of the darker shadows in the palette. If not, I don’t really know what I will do with the palette, but I am sure I will think of something!

Models Prefer NUDE Palette

To not limit myself to mostly one palette throughout the year, I have also decided to add in this palette. It has received no love even though I have heard only good things about it! My main goal with this palette is to actually get some good use out of it. I already know which shades will get the most love, which is exciting in its own right!

Lipsticks, Lip Liner and Eyeliner

I unashamedly took the idea to track these products in my Bullet Journal from Pastel Sparkles (her project pan linked). I love this idea and I feel it is a lot easier to track and also more encouraging when you can actually mark and see how much you have used! I also like how the products have marked my page, they brings some colour to the layout! I am most excited about finishing Girl About Town by MAC, simply because it would be the first lipstick I ever finished, and it is also the first MAC lipstick I ever bought.

Kat Von D Ink Liner – Trooper

This poor sod makes a return. A product that I did not intend to pick up but for the life of me I am determined to use. I HATE using this on my eye, I don’t know how I used to love felt tip liners, but oh well. I mostly plan to use this for makeup looks that I want to do. It will be interesting to see how this lasts! But I think if by the end of the year it still isn’t finished. I will probably just declutter it, as I simply don’t love it as much as my other liners.

Finally, that is my 18 before 2018. I feel confident with most of these products, and because I have given myself just under year to complete this challenge, I know I will be able to work through most of them. If by the end of the year, I have only finished 10 products, that is more then OK! Because it is 10 products that are no longer floating around in my collection.

In regards to keeping myself accountable and you updated on my progress, I will most likely only post once a month, otherwise you will get sick of hearing about my project! But make sure to keep an eye out on my Instagram as I am sure that I will get excited and post some progress shots there.

Green Shift Makeup Look!

Hey Guys!

I have been loving a darker look recently, and I am feel so inspired by winter! I am super happy with how my eyes turned out in this look, but not sure how I feel about my lips, I wanted to do something different but improvised.

My idea behind this look was that I wanted green eyes with a red crease. The hardest part of this was actually trying to get the red crease, as I wanted it to be matte. I found that the shadows that I thought would work for me didn’t, they weren’t red enough, so I had to lightly layer over a red shimmer. It worked out in the end, but I ended up using a lot more shadows in the crease than I wanted.

The main shadows of this look are Spectral Fragments by Femme Fatal Cosmetics and Lumi by Sugar Pill Cosmetics. I have a deep love for my Femme Fatal shades, because they are unique and so easy to work with. Lumi is a shadow that simply works with everything and I love it to death.

A quick close up of the eyeshadow look! below is a list of all the products used:

Base: Urban Decay Primer Potion

Crease Colours: Tarte In Bloom – Charmer, Jetsetter, Tarte Tease Palette – BFF, Femme Fatal Cosmetics – Flare

Lid Colour: Femme Fatal Cosmetics – Spectral Fragments

Inner Corner: Sugar Pill Cosmetics – Lumi Pigment

Lower Lash line: Lumi in inner corner, Spectral Fragments blended to outer corner.

Liners: Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper (lip liner), Estee Lauder Double Wear liner (water line)

Mascara: Tarte – Lights, Camera, Lashes (top lashes), Maybelline New York – Lash Sensational (lower lashes)

False Lashes: Ebay Lashes

Brows: Benefit Gimme Brow in Light/Medium, Australis – Extender Clear Brow Gel/ Mascara

Base: Loreal Infallible Matte Primer (Review)

Foundation: Kat Von D Lock-it shade 44

Powder: Nars Light Reflecting Loose Setting powder, Tarte Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Setting Powder (T-zone)

Contour: Nars Laguna Bronzer

Blush: Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Mood Exposure

Highlighter: BECCA Shimmer Skin Perfecter Moonstone

Setting Spray: Skindinavia Setting Spray

Jeffree Star Cosmetics Unicorn Blood (swatch post)

Sugar Pill Lumi layer over top. (A different shade was also used, but looking back that shadow is not lip safe so I will not be listing it here.)

I found that while Spectral Fragments is a beautiful duo chrome colour, it does bruise on my eyes. So if you have an eye shape/ design (?) similar to mine please be aware of that! The green shift lasted really well on the part of my lid that did not fold away, the areas that did got bruised and so only had the dark undertone left.

I originally was going to pair JS Weirdo with this look, but I didn’t have it with me, so I thought I would try Unicorn Blood. This is my first experience trying to layer shadows like this over lipstick, I feel it turned out pretty well though!

What sort of looks would you like to see next? Please let me know below.

Purple Night Makeup Look!

Hey Guys!

I was sitting at home one day and I just had to play with some makeup, I had recently purchased a lot of pigments and I am just in love with them and want to put them all over my face. I have also been loving black lipstick, I haven’t worn it much but I can see myself wearing this a lot this winter so get ready.

Here is an over view shot! I am so happy with how this turned out (even if taking photos was a pain). This is one of my first true attempts at trying to do a wing liner and I am soooooo happy with it. Probably a bit longer than what I wanted but it worked out really well for this look. So I don’t mind that at all!

I feel that you could easily pair this with a different lipstick, I was even thinking of pairing this with Jeffree Star Cosmetics – Blow Pony but decided that I really wanted this to be a super bold look and so decided on Weirdo instead.

Here is a closeup of my eye! Again, this was so hard to photograph, this was one of the few good ones I have! As I said, I am super happy with how the liner turned out, more so because I am still learning how to do things like this!

What I did to get the liner to look like that was to actually put the eyeshadow down first in a straight line, so that way I only had to follow the edge with my brush tip liner. I  found it made it soooo much easier to get a straight line that still connected up with the rest of the look. I doubt that is a new technique, but definably a good one if you, like me, are still learning how to draw straight lines on your face.

Loreal Paris Infallible Matte Primer Review

Kat Von D Lock-it Foundation shade 44

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Vanilla

Laura Mercier Under-eye setting powder

NARS Translucent Setting Powder

NARS Laguna Bronzer

(Don’t remember my blush)

BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfecter in Moonstone

Urban Decay Primer Potion

Femme Fatal Cosmetics – Fever Swamp (light purple, Inner Corner),  Dead House ( pink/ purple, Inner 3rd), for the last shade the label had deteriorated before I could write down the name or stick it to the sample pot I switched it to. But this is also a Femme Fatal Shade. But any dark shimmering purple will do the trick!

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper

Eyelure Lashes, I think is style #149 or #150

Urban Decay Perversion Liner – Top Lashes

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara – Bottom Lashes

Benefit Gimme Brow – Light/ Medium

Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel

Jeffree Star Cosmetics – Weirdo

What do you think of this look? I feel I will have to refer back to this post myself so I know which products I used! Please leave some feedback in the comments on what you think, I would love to hear from you.

Under-Grad Graduation!

Hey Guys!

Last week on Tuesday (April 5th) I graduated from my Under-Grad Degree! I do not know if I have mentioned it much on my blog, but yes! I have been a full time student for the last three years and on Tuesday I Graduated from my Bachelor Of Arts! It honestly doesn’t feel real, but having my fancy piece of paper hanging on the wall beside me as I type is a solid reminder that, yes, I did complete a degree at uni!

I was so lucky to be able to Graduate with (most) of my friends who I started this degree with! It was such a great honour to study with these beautiful people. I can’t express enough how thankful I am that we could all go through this together and still be such great friends on the other side!

Although I failed at getting a good shot of what I was wearing under my gown, here is what the gown looks like in general! You might be wondering why were are all in team Hufflepuff colours. Well, to put it simply, we are all from the school of Communications and yellow is simply the colour of our school. I seem to find myself always in team yellow for school. Ah well, I guess it is just meant to be my colour! (even though it really does not go with blonde hair)

Here is a bit of a close up of my crazy face. I am pretty sure this is before we have received our degrees otherwise I would not have been this calm! As much as I loved wearing the gowns, I did actually get to a point where I over heated and almost passed out. Thankfully that was at the end of the night so it wasn’t a huge issue, but still. Kind of a scary moment! Thankfully my family was there for me though so it was all good!

What is on my face, you may wonder, well here is a short overview:

Lips: Jeffree Star Cosmetics – Redrum

Face: Kat Von D Lockit Foundation – Shade 45

Brows: ABH Dip Brow – Blonde

Eyes: Inglot Gel Eyeliner as a base (Inglot Gel Eyeliner – Review)

Tarte Tartelette In Bloom palette – shades used in the crease

NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadow – Galisto

           Sugar Pill Pigment – Lumi

My dress, even though you do not really see it throughout this post, if from Tokito. I bought this the day before because Mum did not approve of what I was going to wear. And I am in a way glad, because I love the dress that I got and I know I will get a lot of use out of it! It was a simple Black A-line dress with a black belt that clasped at the front. The belt came attached and I love it. Mum of course complained it was black, my favourite colour haha! I personally prefer black clothing but colourful makeup.

I cannot wish for the day to go differently, because to me it went along beautifully. The only thing I do feel a little sad about is that after the ceremony we didn’t get a chance to take a photo of all of us together with out fancy paper. But at least I took a few photos before hand! Thank you again to my beautiful friends. I can’t imagine doing this degree without out you.

Now I have to wait for my next graduation! Which will happen in a few years. I am currently studying a Master of Teaching (Secondary) and its so interesting! So be prepared, in two years time (if I am still blogging) there will be another graduation post!

Jeffree Star Cosmetics – Unicorn Blood!

Hey Guys!

Winter is ever so slowly coming to Australia and I honestly can’t wait for it to be on our doorstep. If there has been any cloudy days I am instantly rocking a darker lip, so to start of the darker lip trend. I will be starting with one of my favourites from Jeffree Star’s Liquid Lipstick range, Unicorn Blood.

Straight away you can see that this is a colour that I have used a lot due to the fact that the writing is starting to fade on the side. I have had this for almost a year now and I still love it as much as when I first got it. I haven’t been able to wear this for a while and so I cannot wait for the weather to cool down.

Now get ready guys because there is a LOT of selfies in this one, and even one of my beautiful friend Bruna ❤

I think this is probably the first time that I wore this shade! haha I don’t know what my hair was doing that day but oh well! I kinda like it anyway. This would be the moment when I fell in love with this shade. I love reds and this dark red just ticks all the right boxes for me.

I don’t know where I am for this pick, but at least in this photo it shows how it looks on the lips versus in the tube. I personally don’t wear any lip liners while wearing this product so what you see is what you get! Sorry that the quality isn’t so great, I can only guess I’ve taken this in poor lighting on my phone haha.

These are from my most recent stint of wearing Unicorn Blood.  I was at work and not gonna lie, my desk is right in front of a giant window so it is the perfect place for some selfies. I think this set of photos would show closest to the actual colour. I love this shade so much and it just works so many different looks.

The last photo that I have is of my beautiful friend Bruna, she also bought Unicorn around the same time that I did and she too fell in love with the shade. I LOVE how this looks on her so I asked if I could take a photo for this very blog. I can’t wait to see her again ❤

Let me know what you think of Unicorn Blood, or any other shades like this you think I should try out!

Jeffree Star Cosmetics – I’m Royalty

This weeks feature lipstick is one of my favourites for winter! Jeffree Star Cosmetics in I’m Royalty. This is a shade that has been out for a long time. If I remember correctly it was one of the first shades he released!

Here is what it looks like! You can see that this is a true purple compared to last weeks post on Blow Pony. This is a purple that anyone could pull off because it is such a true colour. I’m Royalty applies beautifully and is easy to wear on the lips. I haven’t worn this in a long time due to it being summer here in Australia, but don’t worry, as soon as it starts getting cooler I’ll be rocking this colour all of the time!IMG_0061

Here are a couple of photos of me wearing this beautiful colour! Like I said its been a while since I wore this colour, so I think these photos are from around August last year. But still, I love how bold this is and how easy it can be to pull off. You can pair this with so many different looks and I am excited to see what I can do later this year!

I am so glad that this a apart of the permanent line as I know that when I run out I will want this back in my life pretty quickly. I feel that this colour also doesn’t separate as badly as some of the others do when left alone in the packing for a long period of time. Which for me is nice to see as it always does worry me a little how badly some can separate.

Let me know what you think of this colour!

Jeffree Star – Androgyny ft. PastelSparkles

Hey Guys!

After the great news of Jeffree Star declaring that Androgyny is becoming a perm colour for next year, myself and the ever beautiful Pastel Sparkles decided that we would do a little colab showing what the shade looks like on our different skin tones and with our different makeup styles!

At this point you would be hard pressed to not know about this shade and all the hype that was surrounding it. When it first released on the 6th of December it sold out in under 5 hours! (I believe this is because the 2 per person limit was taken off) and then just this weekend past he had a restock of 10,000 units which sold out in 45 minutes!!! Guys! This colour is popular and there is a reason why.

When this first started arriving at people’s houses, there was a bit of confusion because it turns out that Androgyny is darker then what everyone thought it was going to be. Now I’m not too fussed as I can pull off most colours, but I know a lot of people were sad because now they felt it didn’t look good on them.

IMG_1287 IMG_1288

Here is a hand swatch and a look at the beautiful packaging! Now I haven’t thrown out the packaging for these, I think the boxes are really pretty so yea. Now as you can see this is a darker colour, which is a bit more of a winter shade (lucky Northern Hemisphere) but this is still totally wearable all year around. I will def still be wearing this! And seeing as Adelaide is a little confused as to what season we are in, it’s still perfect to wear!

Now for the part that everyone is really here for, some photos of what it actually looks like on! I have a couple photos of myself with it on, and a couple from the beautiful Pastel Sparkles! But if you want her full review make sure to head over there as well!

I know this photo isn’t the most helpful for a makeup look, but this is the first time I ever wore Androgyny and knew that I loved it, I feel that this is still a good photo because it does show you how dark it can look in the shade. For this photo I had just opened my package, threw it on and walked out the door. And believe it or not I got complimented on it! I was so happy because it’s not something that happens often 🙂 and when I told the women that it was Jeffree Star, one of them freaked out and also started to brag about the brand and the colour!

IMG_1294 IMG_1306

These are some photos that I took before I left the house the first time I wore Androgyny, I was having a moment and loving it hahah. Can’t forget to have a goofy photo in there either!

This is my makeup for today! Androgyny is such an easy colour to wear, you don’t need to do anything crazy to make it work! On my eyes is a few shadows from the UD Naked Palette. I can def see me getting a lot of use out of this shade and so I am super happy that I got it!

12270538_10153536347327530_1329902117_n 12272945_10153536347347530_579987886_n

Here is the beautiful Pastel Sparkles wearing it in two different settings and looking absolutely amazing! These photos also show you how different Androgyny can look in different settings and light. I love how you can pair this with many different styles 🙂 The first photo she is looking super serious and it looks like it would be a great colour for a business meeting and in the second its great for just a casual day out with friends! (I love that coat she is wearing XD super cute) I seriously love this colour on Sarah and I am so glad that she loves it! She was someone who was worried that it wouldn’t look good on her because Androgyny was darker then we were all expecting. I am glad that she does love it and that we could both work together on this post! Please go over to her post and show her love! Make sure to tell her how good it looks on her!

Overall I love this colour so much, and I actually have a backup of it! At the time of the sale I wasn’t sure if I had actually gotten my hands on it so I went to an Australian website and got one from there as well. I am so glad that I now have this in the holiday packaging and I am sure that when this comes out next year in the normal pink packaging Jeffree will still have a hard time keeping up with demand. I feel like this is another Unicorn Blood, a shade that everyone loves and everyone wants!!

Just remember, that even though its sold out, it will be coming back! So if people are re-selling it for crazy prices, just try to wait so you can get it for a better price! I love this shade, am glad that its coming back and that I have a backup! Jeffree Star seems to be having trouble keeping shades limited edition because everyone loves them too much. Good work Jeffree Star!

I have now got all of the colours in the current collection and so will be working towards having a full swatch post! Hopefully that won’t take me too long and will be up soon!
